Despite these trying times, Old Amersham remains a delight. The Churchyard and memorial gardens are a delight and the Spring walks are lovely and our local Tesco remains steadfastly open!

Gill and John are fabulous hosts and The Old Barn is excellent in every way!
The location of the property could not be better both for convenience and beauty. Our hosts had the refrigerator stocked and everything we needed for our week’s stay was at out fingertips. The home was sparkling clean and organized and Gill and John were on hand to answer all of our questions. We could not have asked for a better week and we will certainly be back and so will our 3 children who LOVED their stay in Amersham.

As advertised - a lovely centralized retreat in the Chiltern Hills. John and Gill are the most kind, friendly and fun hosts imagineable! Thank you!
“I cannot praise 'The Old Barn' highly enough. There are so many 'special touches', that it is clear the hosts, John and Gill, are determined to make this 'airbnb' experience a most treasured memory for all their guests. Outstanding hospitality!
Sping is in the air - the gardens are planted - the bands are assembling - come and stay at the Barn - its sunny today!
Amersham old town has lots of marvellous festive events. All located next to to The Barn - the pubs are a mere “that’s an idea” step away. Quality restaurants beckon - as the pints slip away and your taste buds oscillate - there is cuisine for every stage of the palate. There are activities in the Church, the local hotels and shops. Check with the Amersham web sites for all the fun and uplifting seasonal events. Hard to get bored in this little city. Lots of information on the Amersham museum website - just follow the link below
Although we call it a history website, it does not pretend to provide a full history of the town; for that we recommend Julian Hunt’s excellent book A History of Amersham, which is available from Amersham Museum and bookshops. This website is more like a well-indexed, searchable and ever-expanding giant scrap-book, telling the stories of people who have lived in the town, often in their own words.
A town with a deep and remarkable history, Amersham buzzes with activity all summer long and the super heritage day is not to be missed!
This year it's Sunday September 11th 2016 - don't miss it!
This coincides with the four-day-long national Heritage Day programme, celebrating England’s local history and culture, and giving access to thousands of places usually closed to the public.
Last year, once again Old Amersham came to a standstill when residents and visitors turned out in their thousands to celebrate our annual Heritage Day in September.
With so much to see and do we hope that everyone went home happy. Performances included those from the Chesham All Girls Marching Band, Scoil Rince Ceim Oir Irish Dancing Group, The Merrydowners Morris, The Paladins of Chivalry, Soundforce Big Band and the Amersham Band. There was a huge collection of classic cars, traction steam engines and over 50 stalls while the children petted farm animals, watched Punch and Judy, enjoyed pony rides, mini steam engine rides and took part in a medieval battle.
A huge thanks to all the residents who came along and to the Amersham hotels, and to the The Kings Chapel and The Entertainer for sponsoring the event.
Come and stay for the week! Amersham is blessed with quality accommodation like the Barn, the Kings Arms and Crown hotels as well as myriad quality restaurants and pubs and not forgetting the exquisite countryside. So come and visit and enjoy our wonderful Amersham accommodation and hospitality.
